When was the last time you got a mind-spa?

Yes, you read it right! Not just our body, our mind needs a spa, as well. We all are so busy in the hustle-bustle of our lives, that I often recheck if I brushed in the morning. I know it’s stupid, but I take a second sometimes, just to memorize if I had brushed my teeth. We are in a constant race to achieve first place in this ‘life marathon’. But, is it really required? Well, here are certain factors I would like to share, which may or may not resonate with you. However, let’s see if it does!

The human nature in ‘Us’

The pioneers of humankind were made of dust, as per the bible verses below.

“Then the LORD God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.”- Genesis 2:7

For those who believe, or not, let’s imagine if we really were, then what could our mind be? Made of just a heap of dust. We are all immature at some point, staring at our lives, not knowing what to do further. With our rigorous efforts and the experiences we gained over the years, we manage to make both ends meet at, end of the day.

The supernature in ‘Us’

Having a not-so-sophisticated way of birth, just from a handful of dust, we have evolved over the years to introduce robots to our lives for daily activities. Mankind, with supernatural intelligence power, and technical knowledge invented artificial intelligence, that makes our lives easy, in every aspect.

The journey from a pile of dust to the pinnacle of success was not something that happened overnight. But, we made it, always having that superpowerful God carving us, over a time period, to be, what we are today. I cannot be ungrateful even for a minute for this life, you call him God, or that supernatural force, we had his back all our lives, for sure.

Need for healing ourselves

It happens most of the time, that we get injured, a small cut on our fingers, while we were chopping veggies, that burn you got while lighting a match stick, it hurts at that moment, and for a few hours, later. But, we apply some kind of medicine, and the healing process starts right away. Sometimes healing could happen in a natural way too.

The question is do we find time for inner healing? Do we find time to place down the fear, anger, grudge, and regrets, we have been carrying on our shoulders over the past few years? Our fights, misunderstandings, mistakes, revenge, all of it eats half of us, it destroys our peace of mind, unknowingly. We are so stubborn that we won’t forgive those who hurt us or those who once became the bad chapters in the book of our lives.

A glimpse of Inner healing

Inner healing starts from within. The day you decide to forgive your fellow human being, for something that happened several years ago, that one hug you give them, and those few seconds of the smile, and happy tears. Trust me, no feeling in this world can be as sweet as those tiny, happy moments.

Inner healing is cleansing your mind occasionally, forgiving those who broke your heart, forgetting something bad happened in your life, be it a loss of someone, loss of your son, your husband, or your mother. Inner healing is calming your mind, gaining self-control over circumstances, where you really want to burst out, but you handle it in a more mature manner. Inner healing is the time, you give yourselves for that natural healing of any wounds in your heart.

What is so strange about healing your mind is that, unlike those physical injuries that happened to your hand or leg, a mental injury takes, years to heal. The reason is simple, stuffing your mind with years of revenge, disappointments, and anger, the wound has swollen up now, with a lump of pus, ready to pop up. If science was advanced enough to show the real cross-section of your mind, you could have had a better view with a microscope.

How to give yourself a mind spa?

When I quoted those bible verses, I had a great message for you in mind. This would be the right time to share. I was a below-average human being, who used to react, get angry, cry, and curse myself for something bad happened. I used to hold that grudge for long, and my attitude was that I am never going to forgive, even if the world turns upside-down.

But, life has taught me over the years that, the more resentment I hold on to, the deeper the loss I suffered, I had to trade my happiness and peace of my mind, for something that happened a long time back. I was falling sick, tensed, anxious, disappointed, for things that happen today, not knowing that I relate everything with my past experiences. This is for sure going to affect my life in the future, as well. I decided to keep the below things in my mind for a peaceful, happy, and healthy life.

  • Not everything in life is under your control
  • Let go of all those hard feelings that disturb your mind
  • Past is past, something you cannot change, no matter what!
  • The lifespan of humankind is short, forget and forgive today
  • Love people unconditionally, when they backstab it surely will hurt you, but know that one day will come for sure, they will be grateful to your love and for having you in their lives
  • Take a break from your busy life, go to the mountains, soak in nature, the end of the day, an ultra-modern electronic gadget, will not solve all the problems in your life, but nature can help you in your healing process
  • Last, but not least, know that maybe you were just a pile of sand once, you can do endless mistakes in life, life is not meant to be perfect, but you can surely take your time, heal yourself, and take an oath to control your mind, and try your best, not to hurt anyone in future

“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.”- Buddha
